Numerical taxonomy of urban form in Amsterdam and Prague

These maps present a result of a research presented in the manuscript Methodological Foundation of a Numerical Taxonomy of Urban Form. They represent types of urban form automatically detected using urban morphometrics and their taxonomy - hierarchical classification based on the similarity of the types.

The legend shows the dendrogram representing the results of Ward’s hierarchical clustering of urban form types from a combined pool of Prague and Amsterdam. Its y-axis shows cophenetic distance between individual clusters, i.e. their morphometric dis-similarity. Branches are interpretatively coloured - the colours are then used on maps illustrating spatial distribution of these branches.
